Located in Glen Eden, Auckland is Nile Reserve. A small reserve tucked in amongst residential properties in the area.
In late 2021, NumatREC were approached to create a range of balance balls for the playground at Nile Reserve. The balls were to be installed in the ground amongst wood chip surfacing, which required the NumatREC production team to create 3 small, fixed balance balls with extra-long rods that could accommodate the depth of the bark surface.
Along with the balls, NumatREC provided a solution to limit the effects of changing bark levels, providing a system that prevents the surrounding surfacing from getting scuffed away. Wet pour rubber play pods were designed to act as a collar around the balls, bordering the play accessories so that the safety surface remained constant even if the wood chips moved around and compacted down.
NumatREC worked to design the 3 balance balls to the client’s needs and location requirements without compromising on safety.
