Looking for a high quality wood-chip surface to complete your playground surface? TopChip is an engineered wood chip made from untreated recycled timber, designed for use as a playground safety surface. It can be an amazing way to bring a natural element into your space and with a fall safety rating of up to 3 metres, TopChip meets the latest New Zealand Safety Standards (NZS 5828:2015).
We recommend an annual top up to maintain Critical Fall Height, and a full replacement every 3 years to keep things looking fresh.
Safety Certified
This makes the wood chips biodegradable and the surface environmentally friendly, keeping kids and the ecosystem around the playground safe from unnecessary chemicals.
Air drying the wood chips ensures that dust is kept at bay, preventing the irritating particles from affecting those using the playground.

It’s important that wood chip surfaces can dry quickly and can drain effectively to keep the wood from rotting and creating a big mess. TopChip is designed to be free draining and quick drying, keeping the playground surface looking great and fresh.

Numat worked with “design and build” company, Creo, to provide the play surface for the new playground area at Pegasus Bay School.
When Numat installed playground surfacing at Auckland’s Youngs Park playground it was a slightly different project to most. That was because of the product they were installing – MulchSet. Like Pour’n’Play, MulchSet is a dual-layer, wet pour rubber surface, but instead of a granule top, it has the appearance of wood chip.
Tirimoana School was looking to replace the bark safety fall area in their senior playground with a product that was durable, low maintenance, safe for children and aesthetically pleasing.
Karori Park Playground in Wellington was worn down, tired, and small, but it was still a focal community playground that was vibrant and well loved.
