Three Kings School recently underwent a major transformation of its outdoor play spaces in 2022.  The school worked with NumatREC to create and surface two new areas for students to play and learn.

One area was transformed using NumatREC’s MulchSet product, which gives a natural look but has all the benefits of a cushioned rubber surface. MulchSet was installed under wooden steppers and beams, creating a seamless and natural-looking play area that matches the more natural-looking surroundings and the bark-surfaced playground nearby.

"The updated play areas have transformed the underutilized spaces at the school into vibrant and engaging places for students to learn, play, and grow."

The next play space is a bright and colourful area that uses vibrant Pour’n’Play surfacing to create a fun new play and learning environment. The space was transformed from a dirt patch where no grass would grow into a visually appealing outdoor area that is safe, and full of play opportunities. By using wet pour rubber, the NumatREC team were able to include ground games and markings into the surface design.

The updated play areas have transformed the underutilized spaces at the school into vibrant and engaging places for students to learn, play, and grow.

Located in Glen Eden, Auckland is Nile Reserve. A small reserve tucked in amongst residential properties in the area.

In late 2021, NumatREC were approached to create a range of balance balls for the playground at Nile Reserve. The balls were to be installed in the ground amongst wood chip surfacing, which required the NumatREC production team to create 3 small, fixed balance balls with extra-long rods that could accommodate the depth of the bark surface.

Along with the balls, NumatREC provided a solution to limit the effects of changing bark levels, providing a system that prevents the surrounding surfacing from getting scuffed away. Wet pour rubber play pods were designed to act as a collar around the balls, bordering the play accessories so that the safety surface remained constant even if the wood chips moved around and compacted down.

NumatREC worked to design the 3 balance balls to the client’s needs and location requirements without compromising on safety.

The playground at Riverhead Drive, Auckland, is a recent new community space designed to offer a vibrant play environment for residents and visitors to the area.

NumatREC was tasked with surfacing the new playground by the Auckland City Council. A surface design was created for the project by a local artist nominated by Mana Whenua. The NumatREC design and installation team worked to recreate the pattern on the playground surface using Pour’n’Play.

The wet pour rubber surfacing medium allowed the install team to rise to the challenge and implement the design as needed in the space, creating a vibrant and colourful safety surface that ties the playground into the environment and story of the surrounding area.

Pour’n’Play Sport was used to create the new surfacing. The installation team was able to create crisp, court markings using the yellow and blue school colours, adding a unique personal touch to the space.

The new rubber surface is comfortable, safe, and fun to play on. Absorbing shocks and minimising injuries out on the courts.
