Community Funded space at Jardine Park Queenstown

Located in the lakeside neighbourhood of Kelvin Heights, Queenstown, sits Jardine Park, an open outdoor reserve popular for hiking and biking. With stunning views of Lake Wakatipu and a beloved golf course nearby, Jardine Park is a popular spot all year round.

The flying fox project at Jardine Park came to life through the fundraising efforts of a community group that wanted to add a unique touch to the recreational space for residents and visitors to the area. The Queenstown Lakes District Council took on the project so that the space would be built to the specifications required for a council asset.

Having previously worked with NumatREC on a number of projects, the Queenstown Lakes District Council approached the NumatREC team to help bring the space together. NumatREC worked with the equipment installer to bring the space together having the equipment suppliers come in to install their pieces, while the NumatREC team surfaced the space.

The result is an open play area completed with a great flying fox, seating, and five-star views of the Remarkables mountain range.
