Balance Parks are an exciting new innovation in the world of playgrounds. Designed and produced in Norway, Numat is the official New Zealand partner. In this article, we look at 5 reasons why you should consider installing a Balance Park in your playspace.
1. Play for All Ages and Abilities
Balance parks provide open-ended play challenges suitable for everyone, regardless of age, gender or level of ability. Young children, who may not be able to walk the slackline, are able to develop their balance skills by lying across the slackline and adults find challenge in attempting to ‘tightrope’ walk from one side to the other.
Each Balance Park has a fully certified safety surface so the risk of injury is low. These surfaces are made of Numat’s Pour’n’Play which is New Zealand’s leading dual pour safety surface. Pour’n’Play also provides a smooth surface which makes it possible for those with disabilities to access the Balance Park play equipment.
Anyone, regardless of age or ability, can benefit from playing on a Balance Park. Whether balancing, climbing, jumping, or spinning – when you use a Balance Park, you are developing skills, body awareness and upper, core, and lower body strength.

2. Low maintenance
Balance Parks are constructed of highly durable surfacing and play equipment. This makes them very low maintenance. Upkeep of the equipment is a simple matter of occasionally tightening the strapline and the recommended replacement of the line once a year. Each strapline system comes with 3 lines. It is also recommended that regular removal of this loose debris be performed on the rubber surfacing as it shortens the life of the surface. Other than this, Balance Parks are maintenance-free.
3. Great for small/urban spaces
Balance Parks are highly scalable and can be adapted for large or small spaces. But it is in small urban spaces where they really come into their own. Here, Balance Parks can be custom designed to fit the look, feel and size of the space. The inclusion of a ball and a strapline is all you need to have a mini Balance Park ready for play. They are great for both indoor and outdoor environments, malls, between buildings, and dead spaces – basically, any underutilized area can be turned into a mini playground. With some simple custom surface design, you can have a Balance Parks that enhances your space making it more exciting and engaging.
4. Perfect for physical development
We know how important physical play is for encouraging brain development and improving overall well-being. Balance is a fundamental part of this. Without it, physical play is not possible.
Balance Park play equipment is designed for optimal balance stimulation. Straplines, spheres, climbing frames, and steppers can be positioned in various layouts to provide maximum balance challenge and fun. With many differently shaped and sized pieces of equipment, balance parks provide excellent free play opportunities and challenges for all age groups.

5. Sustainable product
At Numat, we work to ensure our products are sustainable and good for the environment. The materials we use in each Balance Park are long-lasting and can be recycled at the end of their life.
The Numat Pour’n’Play surfacing used in each Balance Park is made from natural and recycled rubber. On average, 1500 rubber tyres are recycled per 200m2 of Pour’n’Play matting. Our dedication to reducing, recycling and reusing ensures we can minimise wastage as we maximize play spaces.
