When Whoa! Studios wanted to create an adventure playground that was truly going to be one of its kind in New Zealand, they needed a company that could provide a one of a kind surfacing solution.
Dan Blanshard, the Art Director at Whoa! Studios has been an instrumental vision behind the look and feel of the productions and experience at Whoa! Studios. So, when he oversaw the custom design and development of the adventure playground, he wanted to ensure the surfacing matched the design’s aesthetic.
“We were looking for a playground certified material that would align with our proposed playground aesthetic and be a product that would last the test of time, holding colour and vibrancy,” says Dan.
Dan wanted to make sure they found a company that would provide this cohesion, matching the overall atmosphere and spirit of Whoa! He was also looking for products that offered good value and extended product warranties. He scoured the internet and found that Numat could offer all of these and more.
Numat presented Dan with a range of quality products to choose from including artificial turf, wet pour rubber, and tile options. Dan decided on Pour’n’Play, PermaPlay turf, and PlayTiles, because they, “had a wide range of colour options and the ability to customise the colour fleck combinations.”
Although Dan and his team were happy with all of Numat’s products, Dan feels that his favourite surface is the PermaPlay turf, given its stellar performance and extensive range.
Throughout the installation process, Dan particularly appreciated Numat’s level of customer service and the fact that the calibre of service has continued even after the job was done. It’s a fact that has been recognised and admired by the whole Whoa! Studios team.
As for the satisfaction of the surfacing, Dan states that “it gives me peace of mind to know that all products supplied are certified to NZ standards.” It’s this aspect of the surfacing – the maximised safety and injury prevention – that allows children to fully utilise the space for imaginative play.
Dan hopes that this adventure playground is just the starting point for Whoa! Studios. “We hope to expand our offerings to create a premium experience across all areas.”
